Build A Bridge Foundation’s program Housing for veterans and non-veteran community members who are misplaced and homeless. The mission of the LEAP Program is to give individuals who are homeless and with no place to live, safe and stable housing in a family atmosphere. The LEAP Program offers supportive services and participants are connected to the resources needed to move toward economic independence.
These services include, but are not limited to, GED referral, case management, job skills training, job resource/referral, credit repair/rebuilding assistance, clothing assistance, budgeting, community and health resources, and other services. The LEAP program is equipped with all the amenities and utilities necessary to be comfortable and begin rebuilding lives. We provide structure and personal accountability to insure participants achieve their goals as well as to help them transition back to a productive lifestyle. Program fees are assessed for all adult participants and includes all utilities. The LEAP Program provides basic furniture/household furnishings and appliances. DIVAs promote sustainable, high-quality, out-of-school time for girls in middle and high school, ages 12-17 years old, through advocacy, mentoring, and capacity building to enhance the welfare of Chatham County’s young girls, youth, and families. DIVA is an after-school and mentorship program. The goal of the project is to educate and nurture young women into becoming successful and educated young ladies, through cultural exposure, after school tutorials, etiquette classes, and college tours; developing positive peer relationships and self-esteem.
Camp Adventure is a summer program offered to 4 to 13 year olds with the purpose close the gap of poverty and low socio-economic status for women and children. Providing after school tutorial for the purpose of increasing academic achievement in school will increase the student’s opportunity for academic advancement and decrease the likelihood of retention in a grade by the participant. Camp Adventure offers field trips, swimming, arts and crafts, dance class, and academic courses. Cost is $75/week and includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.
BBF offers employment skills classes for those who are in search of jobs. The employment skills classes will include, but not be limited to resume development and writing, interviewing skills, completing job applications via paper and online, how to search for jobs in the community, how to keep and maintain a job, and what to wear to job interviews. The classes will be offered two times per month to women and anyone else in the community that wants to participate.
