Build A Bridge Foundation of Georgia, Inc. was founded on December 2, 2013 by Tiffany Nelson and Quashan McCord. Build A Bridge Foundation (BBF) was founded on the premise of closing the socio-economic and achievement gap for women and children. BBF was founded for the advancement of women and children to break the low socio-economic and poverty cycle. BBF seeks to empower women through social, economic, and cultural interventions. BBF’s mission is to close the gap of poverty for women and children through education and community resources and to enhance the quality of life for all members of the community, especially those who are poor, suffering, or are otherwise disadvantaged by providing quality education services and community resources. The vision of BBF is to provide a high level of quality academic and social activities/curricula and cultural experiences to women and children in order to close the poverty gap and increase economic sustainability and foster independence in the community. An invitation for board membership was sent to five (5) community members, all with an extensive and diverse background that fits the mission and vision of BBF. Invitations were accepted and the first board meeting of BBF was held January 6, 2014. The first original board members are: Tiffany Nelson, Quashan McCord, Jackie Gilbert-Grant, Caroline Gordon-Jelks, Kareem Hill, Tara Tolbert, and Carrie Early.
